Technical details:

The Eisbach wave used to be a natural river wave. It only came into being when gravel, for example, accumulated in the riverbed, which then blocked the current and created a standing wave. This meant that the wave was only surfable for a few weeks a year. Walter Strasser from Munich changed that in the 1980s: he installed a railway sleeper in the side of the riverbed, which means that the wave now runs constantly. In addition, there is now a mobile ramp that can be used to stabilize the Eisbach wave.

Recommended surfboard setup:

For this wave we recommend "The Shiner" with rail reinforcements in combination with PVC fins without a center fin. Alternatively we recommend "The Heater" with PVC fins.

The location:

The wave is located in the Lehel district, just a few meters from the Haus der Kunst and directly adjacent to the English Garden. The Eisbach wave is very easy to reach by bike or public transport.

Price overview:

Surfing on the Eisbach wave is free. However, the wave is not for beginners! You should only surf here if you already have experience in river surfing and are confident on a surfboard.
