Technical details:
The wave system developed for the Fuchsloch wave was installed by the company Dreamwave in collaboration with the University of Innsbruck in a canal parallel to the Pegnitz that was specially created for this purpose. The waves are generated purely by the flow of the water. The water of the Pegnitz is dammed up in its original course by a weir and directed into the canal. Here it flows down the wave ramp and hits standing water below, creating a wave. Surfers can surf on the wave against the flow of the river with a normal surfboard. The quality and properties of the wave depend on the water level of the Pegnitz and the orientation of the adjustable wave ramp. Since the wave ramp consists of three independent modules, the width of the wave can also be adjusted. This ensures that a wave for surfing can be created all year round, regardless of the amount of water in the Pegnitz.
Recommended surfboard setup:
For this foxhole wave we recommend "The Shiner" with rail reinforcements in combination with FCS Performer fins and a small center fin.
The location:
The wave is located in the Fuchsloch on the Pegnitz in the Nuremberg district of Schniegling. The best way to reach the spot is by bike or public transport.
Price overview:
During the week, surfing is currently only available to club members. Non-members can surf on the Nuremberg permanent wave at the weekend. The price for a session is 15€.
